Children at Hagar’s House Enjoy New Play Area
“The true object of all human life is play. Earth is a task garden; heaven is a playground.” – G.K. Chesterton
Thanks to a gift from the Stanford family, pictured at left, young children at Hagar’s House can now enjoy new playground equipment, complete with a fort, slide, and baby and toddler swings. The new play area was dedicated, along with other courtyard improvements, during a casual ceremony in August. The parents of David Johnson, who oversaw the courtyard construction project last spring, donated new riding toys during the holidays, and in January 2012, the Goforth family installed a new basketball goal for older children and youth to enjoy.
In March 2012, the new courtyard will be named in memory of Nona Horowitz, mother of former board member Michael Horowitz. Mrs. Horowitz passed away last fall, and Michael and his family honored her life with a generous gift to Hagar’s House.
